The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

The decision follows public concerns and feedback over the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit. The IGP affirmed that the Force remains committed to inclusive and citizen-oriented policing, noting that the voices of Nigerians have significantly influenced the ongoing review of the process to ensure it remains accessible, secure, and user-friendly.

According to the statement, the extension will allow the Force to further improve both the physical and contactless application procedures, including the integration of better verification systems and the elimination of unnecessary delays and bottlenecks.

The NPF also reiterated that the only authorized platform for applying or renewing the Tinted Glass Permit is www.possap.gov.ng. Citizens were advised to report any illegal charges or extortion during the application or biometric capture stages to police authorities, including through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

The police pledged to continue prioritizing public safety, digital innovation, and improved service delivery, while appreciating the cooperation and patience of Nigerians as the reforms unfold.
